Cliq Connection Australia Pty Ltd (ABN 52 693 362 462 (“Cliq Connection”, “we”, “us”, “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, store and disclose your personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

This policy covers our website (thecliqconnection.com.au), the Cliq Connection mobile app, and Cliq Connection Learning.

  1. What information we collect

Information you give us:

  • Name, date of birth, gender and pronouns
  • Email address, phone number, state and suburb
  • Profile information, photos and preferences you add in the app
  • Messages, voice notes and content you send through the app
  • NDIS number, funding type and plan manager details (Cliq Connection Learning only)
  • Details of a nominated support person, if you provide them
  • Anything you send us when you contact our team

Information collected automatically:

  • Device type, operating system and app version
  • How you use the app and website (pages visited, features used, time spent)
  • IP address and general location (state level)

Sensitive information: Because Cliq Connection is a community for Australians with disability, your membership itself, and any NDIS details you provide, may be considered health or sensitive information under the Privacy Act. We only collect this with your consent and only use it to provide our services.

  1. Why we collect it

We collect personal information to:

  • Create and manage your account (accounts are set up and approved by our team to keep the community safe)
  • Suggest connections and operate app features like messaging
  • Process payments and, for Learning, invoice your plan manager
  • Enrol you in Learning modules and track your progress
  • Provide customer support
  • Send service updates and, with your consent, marketing emails (you can unsubscribe anytime)
  • Keep the community safe, including reviewing reported content and enforcing our Service Agreement
  • Improve our app and website using analytics
  • Meet our legal obligations
  1. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:

  • Service providers that help us run Cliq Connection, including chat services, learning platform hosting, payment processors, email marketing, analytics, and cloud hosting
  • Your plan manager, for invoicing Cliq Connection Learning
  • Your nominated support person, if you have provided their details
  • Apple and Google, when you make payments through the App Store or Google Play
  • Law enforcement or regulators, where required by law or to prevent serious harm

Other members of the app can see your profile, photos and the information you choose to share. Photos uploaded to your gallery are visible to other members.

  1. Overseas disclosure

Some of our service providers (such as chat, analytics and email platforms) store data on servers outside Australia, including in the United States. We take reasonable steps to ensure these providers handle your information consistently with Australian privacy law.

  1. How we store and protect your information

We store information on secure servers and take reasonable steps to protect it from misuse, loss, unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. These steps include access controls, encryption in transit, and admin-approved account creation. No online service is completely secure, so please keep your login details private.

We keep your information only as long as needed for the purposes above or as required by law. When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we must retain it (for example, financial records).

  • Access or correct your information by updating your profile in the app or contacting us
  • Delete your account through the app settings or by contacting us
  • Opt out of marketing using the unsubscribe link in any email
  • Manage notifications in the app settings

Cliq Connection is for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we become aware that we have, we will delete it.
